On January 31st, 2018, i-onCONNECT celebrated our Grand Opening with 140 of our closest friends in our state of the art event space, The Sanctuary. Flexible and open-concept, this space gave our guests enough room to move around and mingle, as well as comfortably listen to our key speakers! Thank you again to everyone who made it out to support us that night!
MetroTech Connect MeetUp- All Things Finance
On March 15th, i-onCONNECT hosted our very first MeetUp, and it was a success! All things finance were discussed while listening to speeches by three influential presenters! Jaap Siekman, MSc, PEng, PMP educated the group on how start-ups and growing companies can seek Government Funding programs that support R&D and Innovation in Canada. Matthew Lee, a Small Business Advisor for Scotiabank, shared with us how your local Scotiabank can be the right support you need when starting your business! MetroTech Connect MeetUp- Patents, IP, and Licencing for StartUps
On April 19th i-onCONNECT hosted our second MeetUp, and it brought together entrepreneurs and business owners looking to learn more about Patents, IP’s, and Licensing for Startups! Our Metro Connector’s had the pleasure of listening to three leading speakers in the industry and learned a lot! Amy Fong who is counsel with the National Intellectual Property and Technology Law groups of McCarthy Tétrault and Jade Buchanan who is an associate there gave an overview of IP and licensing. When it applies, how to distinguish between different IP rights and how your business can benefit from the acquisition and commercialization of IP. Kurt Kolb, who is an electro-mechanical engineer, turned inventor, turned patent attorney explained how startups could protect that first, defining idea while they grow their company to the point where they will need patents to compete globally – all while maintaining a startup budget. i-onCONNECT would like to thank everyone who came out last night to listen, learn, enjoy pizza and refreshments and of course, connect and network! MetroTech Connect MeetUp- Sales 101
On May 30th, our MetroTech Connector’s got a real treat when they spent three hours with Master-Certified Business Coach, Speaker & Trainer Patrick von Pander. Patrick has worked with over 800 businesspeople on a 1-on-1 basis & with over 50 corporate leadership, sales, or service teams. As a Professional Speaker, he has delivered over 200 group seminars & workshops across a variety of professions, industries, & business sectors. Patrick walked everyone through the success of a sale and how to navigate everyday challenges people face in sales, and how to turn those negatives into dollar signs! Patrick will be the presenter for our July MeetUp on July 19th, where he will be discussing why 80% of Businesspeople Miss Out on 80% of Their Opportunities. Night School Event
i-onCONNECT was the event space for a Night School Event where our open space showed just how flexible we could be! All furniture shown above was taken from our Desmond Boardroom and set up to create the perfect open space with a cozy classroom feel for learning and connecting and hosted a little over one-hundred guests!
